FROM SALSA HICK TO SALSA CHICK..

Nikki was bored. She was fed up of going to the gym and fed up of wearing trainers. And when she was on the running machine her feet kept moving to a different beat - making it dangerous for her and others.

Nikki was bored

Something had to change....
she needed to keep fit, but wanted to have fun at One and the Same Time.

Then she heard something from her television set.
tennis scores - thirty love, thirty fifteen
She had an idea

Nikki had an idea

The next day at her local Tennis Club

Nikki playing tennis at her local Tennis Club

But things did not go well on court.

*Note for young people: Bjorn Borg was a Swedish tennis player known for wearing headbands and his lovely, lovely long muscular legs. He also won Wimbledon a few times, sometime in the 1970s

Nikki and opponent discussing the bad tennis.

Nikki not enjoying her tennis

But it wasn't her fault her feet moved to a Different Beat.
Back at Home

Auntie Lavender on the phone

Auntie Lavender:
“Don't forget to feed my fish. I'm off to Budapest for a line dancing weekend. Have you got my Chaps** ready Stanley?”

Nikki thinking about what to do next
**Note for young people: Chaps are trouser covers cowboys wear to prevent chaffing. Different to chaps.”
That weekend .....

Nikki tries scuba diving
Fellow Scuba Diver:
“... stop all that waving and bottom wiggling - you are causing turbulence and upsetting the fish...”

What was happening to her ...

Nikki not enjoying scuba diving either

Not only were her feet moving to a different beat but she was wiggling her bottom without realising . . .

Then she heard something from her wireless...
Ravel's Bolero on the radio

*Note for young people: Ravel's Bolero was made famous by Torvill and Dean, who won an Olympic Gold medal for ice dance in 1980 something.

The following day

Nikki tries ice skating

Ice Rink Official:

Ice Rink Official is not impressed with Nikki's ice skating

Nikki wonders what she is doing wrong

But it was not her fault etc. etc...

She phoned a friend
Nikki asking a friend what to do

Nikki's friend advises Nikki “For goodness sake. All that bottom wiggling and wearing flowers in your hair, and Ravel's Bolero ... why don't you just GO DANCING! Then you can do all those things - have fun and keep fit - all at one and the same time....”

Nikki tries dancing

But after Midnight. Disaster struck...

Nikki does not enjoy the dancing

Now Nikki was despondent. How COULD she have fun and keep fit at One And The Same Time. She was at the point of giving up her quest and buying one of those big tummy ball thingies to use at home when she was watching Gardeners Would when...

The salsa fairy appears
“Nikki, do not be despondent. I know a place you can wear lovely clothes, and flowers in your hair and rather smashing sparkly shoes, too. Where no one will chastise you for counting your steps and wiggling and laughing. WHERE YOU CAN HAVE FUN AND KEEP FIT ALL AT ONE AND THE SAME TIME . . . .”

The salsa fairy comes to Nikki's rescue

5 baking potatoes (as she didn't have a pumpkin or any avocados), 6 mice and a chipmunk later...

The salsa fairy insists that Nikki shall go to The Salsa Ball Nikki goes to the Salsa Ball

Thank you salsa fairy.

Thanks to the salsa fairy Nikki did go to the Salsa Ball and she continued to do so 2 or 3 nights a week depending upon work commitments and prior social engagements.

AND AT LAST SHE WAS HAPPY AND HAVING FUN AND KEEPING FIT ALL AT ONE AND THE SAME TIME.

Nikki lives happily ever after

THE END.
