Here are some places we visit again and again when we return to Portugal. This is a personal view, so i wont be held responsible if the following are not your cups of tea!. All I know is that as far as me, my family and my friends are concerned these are definately a mug of strong breakfast brew with a bit of milk and just the right amount of sugar, plus a nice digestive for dunking......
Restaurante Dom Sebastiao, Rua 25th de Abril, Lagos
Try the Salmonette Grelhado (grilled red mullet), or the Bife a Portugesa, accompanied by a bottle of Joao Pires. A prime spot for watching the world go by. It gets very busy in the heigh of summer, so try to book in advance, although you cant book a table outside, unfortunately.
Snack Bar Britaica, Rua Marquez de Pombal, Lagos
Always a warm welcome. A coffee and ice cream haunt for us since way back in the early 2000's! Another place that gets really busy at the height of the summer. Ask for a Meia de leite (thats my favourite coffee with milk) and a pastel de nata.
Restaurante Caravela, Rua 25 de Abril, Lagos
Another favourite, situated on one of the best streets in Lagos for people watching. The menu includes everything from Pizzas to Portuguese traditional.
Praia Porto do Mos, Lagos
We
enjoy this the most out of season when it is quiet. Sit out on the
terrace of one of the cafes
and watch the Atlantic roll in over the sand.
Kult Pearls and Fashion, Rua Afonso do Almeida. 20, Lagos
Sparkly trinket heaven. I need say no more.
Largo Luis de Camoes, Cascais
A wonderful place to pause for a while. So many bars to chose from.
Our favourite is The Iberico.
Restaurante Sagres, Cascais
For The Cataplana (fish stew), Sardines Escabeche, the bolo de chocolate and the Joao Pires...
